Although I do not consider myself a destination photographer (and pretty much shoot all of my senior sessions around Princeton, NJ), it was so much fun to capture EJ’s personality against the magical backdrop of Magic Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World in 2021! A photography session in the enchanting world of Disney sounds like any girl’s dream, but I think I was more excited than EJ!
There are some iconic landmarks in Disney that we wanted to have in the background of EJ’s images, but we also had to keep in mind that some of the areas may be crowded with other tourists. We took the time to take pictures in front of those well-known landmarks to highlight we were in Disney (and not in our home of Princeton, NJ), but we also found many areas that are lesser-known that complimented EJ’s outfit well and gave variety to the gallery!
EJ and I met in high school through the band program, and one fun aspect of this session was that it was not planned in advance! I had no clue EJ would be in Disney the same time as me until I saw a post on her Instagram story and messaged her. At the time, I just started learning how to use my camera, so I asked EJ if they wanted to do a very quick session at the Magic Kingdom park, and EJ so kindly agreed! Before the session, I had no clue what EJ would wear, and we both did not know where we would go (beginner photographer mistakes right there!). Additionally, it was so incredibly hot that day, the park was CROWDED, and we thought we were getting in trouble by one of the employees (keep scrolling to read that story!). However, all of the challenges throughout the session helped me grow so much as a photographer and made this session one of the most memorable (and magical) sessions I have ever done! Thank you EJ for trusting me so early in my photography journey, and I hope you enjoy the images as much as I do!
Can you believe that these were the first images of the whole session!? EJ- you are amazing!!
We managed to get photos next to Cinderella’s Castle, without people in the background!!!
I loved this purple building that was off to the side of Main Street, U.S.A. The colors complimented EJ’s dress beautifully and there were no people in the area!
Look at the accessories!!
One of my favorites!
To get this shot, I adjusted my kit lens focal length to 18mm, laid down on the ground, and scooched back as far as I could! I bumped into two people AND a trash can…and even though I left the location slightly embarrassed, at least we got some genuine smiles out of EJ!
When we got here, an employee came by and talked to EJ…and for a second we both thought we were getting in trouble for taking photos in the park (at the time I was not a professional photographer that was charging, so I thought there was nothing wrong). I stood far, far, FAR away, but the employee was just complimenting EJ’s gorgeous outfit! When she left, we both laughed and took these images:
