Jockey Hollow- Winter Family Session

I am so excited to share this family session with you today! Over the past few months, I’ve had the absolute joy of capturing so many family moments, and this particular session quickly became one of my favorites. It’s one of those shoots that leaves you smiling long after the day is over.

Let me start by telling you a little about Chrissy. She was part of my very first headshot fundraiser back in pharmacy school, and I was thrilled when she also booked her grad photos with me! She was always so sweet, positive, and radiated joy! So, when Chrissy reached out about taking her family photos, I couldn’t say “yes” fast enough! We chose to take photos at Jockey Hollow, and the location did not disappoint!

When I finally met Alex, Chrissy, and Olivia for their session, I could tell right away it was going to be amazing. This family’s energy and connection were so effortless and heartwarming. Even though it was freezing outside—we’re talking 25-30 degrees Fahrenheit—they were absolute troopers! I mean, braving that kind of cold for family photos deserves a round of applause on its own. Looking back at the photos, I actually forget that it was so cold because the ladies made it look so easy!

And then, there was the cutest surprise: they brought along Santa hats! It was the perfect festive touch, and I couldn’t stop smiling as they popped those hats on at the end of the shoot. It’s little details like this that make sessions so personal and memorable.

It’s sessions like these that remind me why I love what I do—creating images that celebrate joy, connection, and the beauty of family. To Alex, Chrissy, and Olivia, thank you for trusting me to take your family portraits! I know how much these photos mean to you and your family, and it truly warms my heart to have been part of preserving such meaningful memories.
